WALL PAINTING - FRESCO

Art is a feeling. Art is what you make it. Art does not have caste, religion, or language. It is life without water. To learn the art you need passion, perseverance, and commitment. Art is a philosophy of life.

Art is an act of Love that can be experienced by the one who does it. Values like honesty, good manners, determination, kindness, responsibility, respect for others, etc., can be put in. Famous quotes from books, reading habits, inspirational words paintings of some famous scientists, philosophist, and educationist pictures along with quotes, environmental issues, sports, and dance,  can be brought out in wall painting.., Evolution of human life, types of habitat, Swachh Bharath, India map, seasons, cartoons, cleanliness though sounds old can add flavor to wall painting with new technology. Art is a language allowing one to express what one feels or needs through drawing or painting. Art gives you ultimate freedom with a sense of achievement. Art can renew, and regenerate people’s thoughts. It encourages box thinking and makes you come out with unique solutions. It helps you to see by learning and gives you more focus on the environment. Art makes you more observant as Leonardo da Vinci said it can improve attendance and a rare chance of dropouts might become less helpful in hand-eye coordination, thereby encouraging neural connection and improving gross motor skills. Painting embraces all the ten functions of the eye, that is to say, darkness, light, body, color, shape, location, distance, closeness, motion, and rest.

Wall paint in schools which is inspirational and informative is a great way to raise a smile and a pupil’s aspiration, with a great learning experience and more involvement. Wall paintings give a face-lift by passing strong messages to passers-by. As per my guidance, the students were given free hand to draw on the walls of the school with relevant messages to the students.

Importance of Wall Painting

Environmental protection: painting preserves the interior and exterior surfaces through its protective coating from extreme weather conditions. Painting provides a relaxing, open environment to explore creativity. It is trying to attract people, make them watch, and understand its depth if the onlooker has some sense of it. If a layman looks into painting it takes time for them to travel and understand. Wall paintings are a form of an interactive display for the child to watch, observe, feel, reason it out, and try a replica too.

Activity

Britto’s students are given free hand to paint compound walls, classrooms, and labs. It shapes the attitude and mood of the students. It also builds a high sense of pride in getting their work done and also helps in interacting with the display once it is created too. The compound wall became a canvas for art-loving students. Representational paintings like human figures, landscapes, portraits, still life, marine paintings, etc are the work they enjoyed doing.

Reasons for painting

Transmitting our idea, a piece of painting might motivate us, bring memories of the past, and give a sense of togetherness. For some it is the reason for existence, painting is important for those who practice and enjoy it. It has evolved with the growth of mankind. Evolving wall painting displays the learning process of a child, helps them to keep track of what they have learned, make connections, and develop coherency between ideas.

History

Wall paintings are also called “Murals” which can be done directly on walls. Wall paintings bring art into public space and the artists receive more recognition. Wall painting is done to project social causes and political messages. The different aspects of wall paintings are creating the visuals, space, distance, materials, tools, and execution. Painting on school walls creates a very attractive, joyful atmosphere by creating a significant influence in illuminating a youngster’s day.

Thuvakkam, an NGO, visited Cantonment School at St.Thomas Mount they realized that the students added color to the lives of fellow students. As a parting gift to the institution, class XII students from Lalgudi Boys Government School painted their classroom and left it clean for their juniors to feel good when they enter and are inspiring other students. Painting the walls, providing an open learning environment for students, attracting the community, and getting their trust to increase enrollment, and learning outcomes has increased student activeness, and a sense of ownership by students, teachers, and staff community, whereas drop-outs can be reduced. Wall painting is the enhancement of architecture where the wall is a part of it.

When I saw the school wall being painted bringing a splash of vibrant colors with creativity paved way for some students to be a part of a wall painting project in the Chennai airport A.M  JAIN College has won accolades for the school and student community has given me great joy and gives me the feeling of making the children go in a focussed path.

TESTIMONIAL

S.S.Surya

Hello, I am S.S.Surya, a Viscom student from A.M JAIN College Meenambakkam. Well my journey as a Britto student ,I am happy that the school has identified my painting talent from grade three and has encouraged me till class twelve. The trust, coaching ,grooming with confidence made me win many prizes ,and finally I felt very happy to do the painting on walls of the college where I am studying and the prestigious Chennai airport. Seeing this many of my fellow mates too wanted to do it. But I am fortunate to get a chance through the school. Now I am conducting small workshops on painting for the local government schools  ,which would turn out to be a great place and give an opportunity for learning art.
